Former district superintendent Armon Newburn passes

Armon Newburn, 77, the former Oklahoma district superintendent, passed away Sunday evening. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 11, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

AG ministry preparing for next disaster

Denny Nissley, AG chaplain, and his wife Sandy founded Christ in Action in 1982 as an evangelism ministry, but years later, shifted focus to disaster response. Most recently, they began an initiative to help build homes for earthquake victims in Haiti and are now training volunteers to help people impacted by the next disaster.

AG World Missions and Convoy of Hope provide relief in Chile

More than 700 people have died and at least 500,000 are without housing as result of earthquake in Chile. Though aftershocks are continuing to cause further destruction and hinder recovery efforts, AGWM and Convoy of Hope are working to provide food and clean water to earthquake victims.

National Prayer Center -- God answers prayer!

The Assemblies of God National Prayer Center has recieved millions of calls, e-mails, and Web site submissions requesting prayer and reporting answers to prayer since its beginnings in 1994.

AG Theological Seminary offering forum to local/world audience

The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary will be offering a live audio feed of its forum presented in cooperation with the National Association of Evangelicals on Friday, March 12. The forum topic is "Respecting Sex and Reducing Abortion — What Can Christian Leaders Really Do?"

Haiti relief efforts continue, expand

The ongoing relief effort by AG World Missions and Convoy of Hope and its partners in Haiti has resulted in 6.5 million meals being distributed and 345 water filtration units installed so far. The AG World Relief Committee has also established a 3-year plan that involves extensive relief, recovery and rebuilding in Haiti.

"Heart & Soul" prayer initiative to launch May 2

On Sunday, May 2, the National Prayer Center is launching a 20-week prayer initiative built around 20 indicators of spiritual awakening that was drafted by the Awakening America Alliance, a partner of the Assemblies of God.

Fine Arts winner makes it to Hollywood

Luke Edgemon won first place in the Male Vocal Solo category at AG National Fine Arts in 2006, and made it to Hollywood week this year on American Idol. He says the lessons he learned from Fine Arts played a part in his American Idol journey.

Homeless congregation in Georgia blesses others

Founded by AG co-pastors Mel and Teresa Rolls, Rescue Atlanta serves 2,000 meals to 500 members of their  congregation each week before worship service on Sundays. Although 85 percent of its members are homeless, many tithe regularly, which helps the church support 17 missionaries as well as an orphanage in Kenya.

Lisa Pratt and her husband Matt, a captain in U.S. Army, lead worship together at Radiant Assembly of God in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lisa was named winner of the 2009 Operation Rising Star contest, the Army's version of American Idol, which provided her with an opportunity to record a demo CD and sing at various Army events.
